Our 40-meter dragon kiln, built in 1988 and continuously maintained, is the heart of our ceramic production. This ancient wood-firing technique, used since the Song Dynasty, creates the distinctive textures and colors that define Ciguang ceramics.
Traditional Wood Firing
Our dragon kiln uses pine wood as fuel, creating a unique reduction atmosphere that produces distinctive glaze colors impossible to replicate in electric kilns.
Natural Ash Glazing
Wood ash from the firing settles on the pieces, creating natural ash glaze effects that add depth and character to each lamp.
Temperature Gradients
The 40-meter kiln creates varying temperatures, allowing different glazes to develop unique characteristics based on their position during firing.
